This was actually better than I expected since i had almost expected this book to be bad. It definitely lived up to its hype. The buildup may be slow to the actual climax since it was actually one thing that snapped everything to action. But I loved how the story is told in first-person, at first, i thought it would probably piss me off. Kate isn't a strong character but it's great how she is a dynamic character who continues to grow and develop. Her love with Vincent isn't insta-BAM! LOVE. It's realistic and her feelings don't cause exaggerated actions fueled by fear. Overall, I really like her kind of character, not too strong but not exactly weak; she overcomes her weakness. And then Vincent isn't one to piss off the readers. He's sometimes portrayed as perfect but his past can well summarize the fact that he's not. He is a tortured soul so I guess people will sympathize as well? Overall, nothing's too rushed or slowed down. The other character are 3 dimensional and likeable. They provide comic relief and soften the teen angst that intermittently presents itself throughout the plot line. This is definitely a worthwhile read and I can't wait for the sequel!
