I prefer to keep my reviews short but I can't guarantee them to be sweet. I don't mind discussing, analyzing, or raving but I'm just an inherently lazy writer/reviewer.

The House of the Scorpion - Nancy Farmer This has a long overdue review I have written ever since I read the book. It has become my all-time favorite, propelled Nancy Farmer to my top favorite authors. The title of the book is so original, spooky and fantastic. It has deep meaning and the Scorpion is such a great symbol. Never mess with THE SCORPION. It will be the ultimate downfall (haha). I have to say, Farmer creates an amazing cast of characters, many despicable and evil; then there is the adorable clone Matt. He is expertly portrayed and above all, undeniably human as can be. Matt is special, smart and innocent despite what he went through; I loved watching him grow up and learn in the house. I heard there's a sequel coming out (God's Ashtray) and I will definitely be waiting for it.
