Ship Breaker - Paolo Bacigalupi The story picked up the pace during the latter half of the book and its well worth the wait. The world-building is excellent and the action is palpable. There is a steampunk aura in the environment due to the ship breaking and oil issues. In fact, the world is meticulously futuristic to the modern world and the ruins are described in such vivid detail. However, it's not really my kind of preference so I'm debating whether or not to read Drowned Cities
