Anne's IntermittentroPolis

I prefer to keep my reviews short but I can't guarantee them to be sweet. I don't mind discussing, analyzing, or raving but I'm just an inherently lazy writer/reviewer.

The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne Finally! This whole book was 180 pages which could've been 100 pages shorter! There is a severe lack of character development and empathy. I don't feel anything for any of the characters and I really hated Dinmesdale, the freaking bastard coward. Basically, he was a static char who needs to grow some! The only thing I liked was the creative way Hawthorne wrote even though he frequently pissed me off with his flowery and redundant writing. To sum it up, Dimmesdale is the worst character in literature, Hester a strong okay person and Chillingworth, an old bitter ugly man. I wouldn't read it a second time and definitely wouldn't have read it at all if I. Knew how bad it actually was.
